چکیده

development of models that can predict potential stroke mortality is important for research purposes, but also to inform families correctly. Using data from Brasov Stroke Registry, we created predictive models for inhospital acute stroke mortality that include demographic (age, gender), history (arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillation) and clinical information (NIHSS at admittance, type of stroke, arterial territory affected by stroke). Our models have statistical significance and are easy to use, therefore may aid clinicians in their daily decisions, after further validation.

BLOOD PRESSURE COMPONENTS AS PREDICTORS OF STROKE MORTALITY IN WEST SCOTLAND

The relative importance of systolic (SBP) versus diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and other combinations of SBP and DBP in the prediction of stroke have been re-examined in a long term cohort study of 10,541 men and women aged 45-64 in West Scotland. During a mean follow-up of 11.6 years 1, 616 deaths occurred, among which 160 (9.9% 80 male, 80 female) were due to stroke. In a multiple logi...

Predictive Value of Somatosensation for Manual Dexterity and Upper Limb Motor Function in Stroke Survivors

Objectives: One of the most disabling impairments following stroke is upper limb impairment. Despite the important role of somatosensory function in motor control and high prevalence of somatosensory deficits in stroke survivors, little attention has been paid to its effect on UE motor function in chronic stroke survivors. Thus, the aim of this study is to explore the correlation between differ...

A 6-Point TACS Score Predicts In-Hospital Mortality Following Total Anterior Circulation Stroke

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Little is known about the factors associated with in-hospital mortality following total anterior circulation stroke (TACS). We examined the characteristics and comorbidity data for TACS patients in relation to in-hospital mortality with the aim of developing a simple clinical rule for predicting the acute mortality outcome in TACS. METHODS A routine data registry of one...

محلول "گلوکز- انسولین‌ـ پتاسیم" در سکته‌ مغزی ایسکمیک: کارآزمایی بالینی

Background: Hyperglycemia after acute stroke is a common finding that has been associated with an increased risk of death. For the last several years, it was believed that post-stroke hyperglycemia may worsen brain infarction in animal models. According to previous studies, the anti-inflammatory effect of insulin has a protective role on ischemic tissues. Glucose-insulin-potassium (GIK) infusio...

Ability of serum C-reactive protein and white blood cell cout in predicting acute schemic stroke. A short -term follow-up study

Background: Stroke is one of the leading causes of mortality and long-term morbidity. The aim of the present study was to determine the ability of baseline serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and white blood cell count (WBC) values in predicting the outcome of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Methods: This study consisted of patients with first AIS referred to Poursina Hospital, Rasht, Iran. Severity...
